It's easy to imagine Mick Jagger and Tina Turner vamping
together on "Tina Toledo's Street Walkin' Blues." Johns co-wrote
this rocking character study of a prostitute trying to make money to
send her kid to med school.
C.C. White is the female voice on the track and Heartbreaker Benmont
Tench adds piano.

Quite a few of the tracks, when woven together, provide a wonderfully
interesting and poetic tapestry of the "carnival" side of
life - drunks, hookers, junkies, and other assorted "lost"
and deluded characters.
An excellent example is 'Tina Toledo's Street Walkin' Blues', a bombshell
of a blues-rocker sounding a lot like a Rolling Stones or Georgia Satellites
track, complete with slide guitar, boogie-woogie piano, and featuring
C.C. White on wildcat background and solo vocals.

The last track on the disc Wax, features some great diva vocals from
CC White. The song is about famous musicians being remembered in Wax,
as in a museum but perhaps she mean perusing a vinyl record collection.
This song actually reminded me of some of the music done by Orlando's
Beef Wellington, whose another funky keyboard player/producer that deserves
a listen.

Gentle Persuasion is the right title which fits perfectly into the smooth
jazz format. C.C. White whispers sexy tones. No doubt that this title
is absolutely radio-like.
